Risk Operations Data Analyst

The Role

Do you love bitcoin and hate fraud? Swan is looking for a Bitcoiner to serve the Swan Risk team as an embedded data analyst. We need a unicorn: someone who enjoys spending time collaborating actively with our fellow Swans to understand real-world problems, but who also loves getting into the flow state with the data for hours on end until they have what they need.

Your responsibilities

  • Serve as an embedded data analyst within the Risk operations team, maintaining close contact with the daily operational needs of Risk
  • Collaborate with Risk operations on metrics, KPIs to ensure fraud & loss rates are accurately measured, working with product as needed to address gaps in data
  • Collaborate with Product Security engineering team on code updates to ensure event and property consistency
  • Configure analytics tools (QuickSight, other tools as needed) in order to visualize data in partnership with Risk operations
  • Create and manage monitors and alerts (DataDog) to proactively identify and address data issues
  • Identify and troubleshoot data quality and integration issues
  • Understand the data being used by Swan’s internal fraud tools and work to optimize and solve issues across these tools
  • Proactively work with both internal Risk team and external custodial compliance and fraud counterparts to ensure Risk is receiving the data it needs from partners
  • Contribute to data governance initiatives, ensuring data quality and integrity, working closely with Security team to ensure data transmission is compliant with data privacy policies

Skills and experience that will help you succeed

  • Experience in fast growth high tech environments in a data analytics or engineering role
  • Previous experience in monitoring fraud or compliance risk data
  • Strong proficiency in data modeling and schema design
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Javascript, TypeScript, or similar) including unit testing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with modern data analytics and visualization tools
  • Broad experience with data warehousing and customer data pipelines
  • A good understanding of AWS core services, concepts, and tooling for data pipelines a plus
  • Required to work US timezones
