Overview

GitHub is looking for an experienced HR Data Analyst to join our HR People Analytics Team. The HR People Analytics team manages, publishes and supports the use of people data across the organization. In addition, the People Analytics team manages GitHub’s Listening System, including Onboarding, Engagement and Pulse employee experience surveys. The success of the People Analytics team is critical to the overall effectiveness of the data-driven HR organization and our ability to ensure consistent employee and manager experiences company wide. As a member of the People Analytics team, the HR Data Analyst plays a key role in aggregating, managing, reporting and supporting people data and tools to support HR, as well as all other GitHub teams. At GitHub, people analytics data is used by our HR team and business leaders to make timely data-driven business decisions.

This position requires an experienced people analytics analyst that is action-oriented and data-focused, who will be primarily responsible for leveraging their exceptional people data analytical and reporting skills, problem-solving and customer service focus. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with HR people data conducting analysis and reporting in a global environment, coupled with previous experience using Workday and statistical tools, such as R Studio. Additional requirements include the understanding of position, employee and contingent staff data worldwide, while ensuring the accuracy, integrity and confidentiality of the data. To be successful, the individual in this position will need to excel at operational execution, attention to detail, customer service, analytical problem solving, communications, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate should also display strong attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple priorities and/or projects, possess initiative & drive with strong desire to continuously improve processes & deliver against agreed objectives and service levels. Strong analytical, problem solving & troubleshooting skills, as well as a desire and attitude to go above and beyond in resolving issues are additional candidate attributes that will ensure success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the aggregation, management, audit, publish and delivery of People Analytics reports on a defined frequency
  • Proactively anticipates business questions and identifies appropriate insights or plausible analytical solutions to suggest in response.
  • Leverages appropriate types and sources of data and/or people related metrics, understands how business needs translates into data requirements and evaluates sufficiency of data sources, determines needs for integrating additional data and identifies, anticipates and addresses gaps and data quality issues with data providers, in partnership with other teams.
  • Partner and consult with executive leaders and HR Professionals on data insights and trend analysis.
  • Develop, deploy and manage People Analytics tools and readiness materials for consumption across GitHub
  • Responsible for responding to HR questions via HR Zendesk tickets in a timely manner, including requests for real-time people data to respond to business and compliance requirements while also ensuring data privacy and security.
  • Manage GitHub’s employee Listening System, including all employee experience surveys
  • Identify and prompt methods that create efficiencies in core work related analytics and reporting that are reusable, readily discoverable by decision makers, self-service and directed to meaningful interpretation of data that drive business decisions and impact.
  • Proactively engages stakeholders to identify and act on opportunities to level resources and solutions.
  • Partner and align closely with the HR team, as well as stakeholders across GitHub

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in data analysis, reporting, business intelligence or financial analysis and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Computer Sciences or related field or equivalent experience
  • 2 years experience in providing people analytics reporting to HR organizations
  • Demonstrated experience using SQL, Python, and PowerBI
  • Experience with sensitive and confidential people data in a global environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a centralized, global HR team
  • Experience writing reports in Workday and utilizing Zendesk
  • Microsoft Excel experience creating pivot tables, vlookups, and formulas to analyze data
  • The ability to research, analyze, and make logical decisions within a given timeframe
  • The ability to work both strategically and tactically on a daily basis

Compensation Range

USD $61,300.00 - USD $162,500.00 /Yr.

In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.
