The Microsoft Bing@Work Team leverages the best talent and Bing/O365 infrastructure to build industry-leading enterprise search and chat solutions. Our team is hiring a Data Scientist 2 in Redmond, WA.

Our main product is Microsoft Search in Bing and Copilot.Microsoft.com, which enhances the Bing surface with enterprise search and chat capabilities, giving us a foothold in both consumer and enterprise markets. This unique space challenges us to innovate and find new ways to meet the expectations of our customers while respecting the compliance needs of enterprise. Our mission is to make search and chat safer and easier for all Bing commercial users by unifying the best of Bing and M365.

As a Data Scientist 2 in Bing@Work will work on huge amount of data and provide insights to Leadership Team (LT) to make data driven decision for search. This opportunity will allow you to gain experience in big data, machine learning and online service. It will also help you develop business acumen.

This opportunity also allows candidates to work from home up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • You will understand where to acquire the data necessary for your project plan and use querying, visualization, and reporting techniques to describe that data. You’ll also explore data for key attributes and collaborate with others to perform data science experiments using established methodologies.
  • You will understand modeling techniques, select the correct tool and approach to complete objectives, and evaluate the output for statistical and business significance. You’ll also analyze model performance and incorporate customer feedback into its evaluation.
  • You will understand the current state of the industry, including current trends, so that you can contribute to thought leadership best practices. You’ll also write efficient code for a specific feature, and develop a working expertise of proper debugging techniques.
  • You will understand each customer’s business goals and learn best practices for identifying growth opportunities. You’ll also examine projects through a customer-oriented focus, and manage customer expectations regarding project progress.
  • You will define metrics to measure, analyze and forecast bussiness goal.
  • You will research, propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance our tools, processes, and analytics capabilities.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field
  • OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 2+ years data-science experience
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) customer-facing, project-delivery experience, professional services, and/or consulting experience.
  • 1 + year(s) experience in data analysis languages and tools such as Python, R and SQL etc.

Additional Or Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science,
  • OR related field AND 1+ year(s) data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)

  • OR related field AND 3+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science,
  • OR related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results)
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience of working in big data platforms like Spark, Cosmos or Databrick
  • Experience as a data scientist for an online service, app, or Web site for millions of users.

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $94,300 - $182,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $120,900 - $198,600 per year.
